Lincoln To Be Shot…Again

You might be shocked, shocked!, to find that I’m not really a fan of Fox News’ Bill O’Reilly. So, I took a measure of joy when his book Killing Lincoln was banned from sale in Ford’s Theatre due to “lack of documentation and the factual errors within the publication.”

I took even more pleasure when George Mason’s History News Network voted the book the 5th least credible history book in print. Why? Because I’m a bit of a troll and I like it when powerful people get their comeuppance after attempting to sieze more power.

Odd asside, three of the five least credible books were about Lincoln. Looks like the sesquicentennial is turning the 16th President’s corpse into a football.

Since Richmond, Virginia has converted its economy into one wholly fueled on Lincoln films, I was little surprised to see white rented trucks and craft services carts littering the street across from my office.

I also was little surprised to snap the photo below. It appears that the Tony and Ridley Scott have decided to kill their Lincoln (played by Billy Campbell) in the same theatre where Lincoln was shot before. You know, as a nod to historical accuracy.

Granted, the Lincoln that was shot there was played by Daniel Day Lewis, but that’s totally besides the point. Bill O’Reilly is killing Lincoln in a theatre where “a” Lincoln was shot.
