My notes

This film took a while for me to get into, not because it's bad, but because Eggers takes his time establishing the world. The set, and setting, is small which makes the film feel more like a play. But Eggers' attention to detail is striking. The combined above does lead to a slower almost lulling pace for the first half to two thirds of the film. Weird things happen, but it's easy to dismiss them as routinely weird. Blair Witch weird.

The last bit of the movie is when things go off the rails. I remember thinking multiple times, "well, that's a bold place to end," only for the film to just keep going, amping up until it ended in a truly bonkers way.

Additionally, Eggers continues to use darkness and contrast in a way that justifies having an OLED.
