My notes

First time watching in 4k.

The film continues to hold up as one of the best uses of sound mixing and surround sound ever - despite the 4k not being remixed into Atmos or the DTS-equivalent.

This was also my first rewatch since reading the prequel/sequel novel, which added a lot of background information and enhanced the Chris Shiherlis and Charlene storyline.

Allegedly the 4k remaster was personally overseen by Mann - it’s labeled the Director’s Definitive Edition - and he changed the color grading. Without doing a side-by-side with the blu-ray I didn’t notice any dramatic changes, though it’s been a while.
