My notes

This film is severely mislabeled as a comedy, and that mislabeling made it all the more brutal.

Frequently touted as the film where Nic Cage 'crashes out' at work, the one where he gives a famously unhinged recitation of the alphabet, does a very grave disservice to this film.

I was expecting a romance, horror, comedy - where Nic Cage is seduced by a vampire and that romance ends up tearing his life apart. I was not expecting a film with a yuppie grappling with a lack of meaning in a capitalist society and descent into full blown psychotic break.

Absolutely brutal film.
