My notes
What an utterly gorgeous film.
The story is simple, pure human drama set in Texas wheatfields. The narration takes a bit to get used to, but it does add an air of excuse to the film - that things seem so simple because it’s narrated by a child.
The visuals, though, lives up the phrase ‘every frame a painting’. It’s wild to see how much of Malick’s style was already getting there on his second feature film.
