My notes
First Viewing
I think I tried to watch this a while ago, but it didn’t click. This time it was enjoyable. A decent moderately pulpy, elegantly dressed period spy thriller. Not quite at the level of the modern Mission Impossible films in terms of action or plotting, and it certainly hoped to start a franchise that never happened. But an enjoyable and pretty ride. Excellent use of contrast and lighting.
Also, it’s wild to see a film where literally Superman is dwarfed by his almost-love interest (Elizabeth Debicki) and someone my size (Armie Hammer).
