My notes
It was fine. I typically try to avoid Wahlberg films, but the combination of LaKeith Stanfield and Shane Black got me to watch this one.
The script and dialogue weren't nearly as tight as Black's initial return work (Kiss Kiss Bang Bang and The Nice Guys), but it was still better than The Predator. He's getting better at directing set pieces, with the train crash being a standout.
LaKeith was great, with this seemingly his closest turn as an action hero.
I haven't read any of the Parker books, but Mel Gibson's portrayal of Porter in Payback is still my mental picture of the character. Wahlberg didn't quite reach that level, largely being too likeable. I don't know which portrayal is more book accurate, but I prefer Gibson's interpretation.
