Sneakers
Release Year: 1992
Synopsis: When shadowy U.S. intelligence agents blackmail a reformed computer hacker and his eccentric team of security experts into stealing a code-breaking 'black box' from a Soviet-funded genius, they uncover a bigger conspiracy. Now, he and his 'sneakers' must save themselves and the world economy by retrieving the box from their blackmailers.
My notes
A stacked cast puts in solid performances in a film I was worried wouldn't hold up having only seen it on VHS. This fits right into the middle of my mental spy trilogy of The Conversation, Sneakers, and Enemy of the State.
Still, with Robert Redford, Dan Akroyd, Sidney Poitier, David Strathairn (in what might be favorite of his roles), Mary McDonnell, and (in one his final performances) River Phoenix, it's hard to not watch.
All while staying family friendly.
