Paycheck
Release Year: 2003
Synopsis: Michael Jennings is a genius who's hired – and paid handsomely – by high-tech firms to work on highly sensitive projects, after which his short-term memory is erased so he's incapable of breaching security. But at the end of a three-year job, he's told he isn't getting a paycheck and instead receives a mysterious envelope. In it are clues he must piece together to find out why he wasn't paid – and why he's now in hot water.
My notes
First viewing in more than 20 years
For a John Woo film, the action is subpar. Even for a 2000s era action film, the action is poor.
The color grading on my copy was also super red, giving it the feel of a poorly setup CRT from childhood.
Plot wise, there's material there for an interesting movie. But the film gets in its own way more often than not.
So, sort of limps on all fronts. Probably would have been better if high.
