My notes

First time viewing. Home 4k UHD Blu Ray.

This one brings me back up to completion on Edgar Wrights' feature films.

I liked it. The act breakdown was rather obvious on this one, with the first and third acts each being 30 minutes, and the second act being a full hour. This helped a little with guessing the twists, one of which I figured out early (Sandy was the woman renting the room), but the cop one got by me.

This movie did an a damned effective job of turning cultural, personal, and historic violence against women into a horror movie - making it fairly feminist in it's portrayal.

Visually it was rather well done. The opening section obscures the current year - not showing any modern technology until Ellie leaves for school. The set design throughout is admirable. I quite liked the mirror metaphor and the thought that went into achieving it.
